Rosiglitazone is one drug in a class of insulin sensitizers known as thiazolidinediones, or TZDs. Generic Avandia Rosiglitazone often is referred to as an "insulin sensitizer" because it attaches to the insulin receptors on cells throughout the body and causes the cells to become more sensitive (more responsive) to insulin and remove more glucose from the blood. Generic avandia pills may be used alone or in combination with other types of anti-diabetic drugs such as metformin or sulfonylureas as well as insulin.

Avandia generic Rosiglitazone has been shown to cause mild to moderate accumulation of fluid (edema) and can lead to heart failure. Avandia generic Rosiglitazone also causes increasing amounts of weight gain with increasing doses. Generic Avandia Rosiglitazone may improve insulin sensitivity sufficiently to cause ovulation. Avandia Generic Rosiglitazone pills help to control type 2 diabetes but do not cure it. Avandia Rosiglitazone acts primarily by increasing insulin sensitivity.

AVANDIA pills can cause or worsen heart failure take these pills with proper doctor consultation. Generic Rosiglitazone pills are also not recommended if you have heart failure with symptoms (such as shortness of breath or swelling) even if these symptoms are not severe. AVANDIA pills may increase your risk of other heart problems that occur when there is reduced blood flow to the heart, such as chest pain (angina) or heart attack (myocardial infarction).
